Sir Wicknell’s final flight

Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo, known as “Sir Wicknell”, and his wife, Lucy Muteke, were among six people killed in a helicopter crash near Marondera on September 30. Chivayo was known for his extravagant lifestyle and the headline-grabbing gifts of luxury cars and cash he dished out. He also made the news for bagging controversial state contracts and his close ties to Zanu-PF and President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

What happened at Cornell?

New York prosecutors have reopened an investigation into allegations that a Cornell student was drugged and raped at a fraternity house in 2024, with seven fraternity members named in a subsequent lawsuit. Most chillingly, a frat group chat discussed a “free” sexual encounter with her in shockingly crude terms. Cornell says punishments included expulsions and suspensions. For some involved, they also included writing essays. Nothing says consequences quite like homework.

Terror, maybe

Five masked British men, three white vans and barrels of petrol were found suspiciously close to RAF Fairford, a US bomber base in the UK already on high alert over threats from Iran. US President Donald Trump says they planned “big damage”; Britain suspects Iranian involvement. But no explosives were found, one suspect reportedly called the police himself, and all five were released on bail. Confused? So, apparently, is everyone else.
