London’s “Putney Pusher” case has taken a grim new turn. In 2017, a jogger pushed a woman into the path of a bus on Putney Bridge (she was miraculously unharmed). Nicholas Brandram, named as the suspect this year, has just taken his own life after months of pressure from a police investigation. His family says he was wrongly identified, with no evidence placing him on the bridge or proving he was the man in the footage.

Bolivia — and the world — has a brand-new feline. Scientists have identified a previously unknown species of tiger cat living in the country’s cloud forests. It’s the first new living cat species to be formally named in more than a century. Locals call it a tilcayo; officially, it’s Leopardus tilcayo. Light brown, spotty and probably nocturnal, it’s small, mysterious and, frankly, very cute.

Australian Hyrox star Joanna Wietrzyk had a rather unfortunate accident mid-race in Beijing last week. About 30 minutes in, she lost control of her bowels, but carried on, mess and all, eventually winning in 1:01:23. The incident went viral, the course was disinfected and the internet divided. Her post-race hospital selfie, captioned “a win is a win”, probably didn’t help matters.
