A good week for Cyril Ramaphosa

These are trying times for President Cyril Ramaphosa, what with his stock falling through the basement in the White House and Julius Malema saying he should “rot in jail”. But at least he had a good weekend — his Ntaba Nyoni Ankole cattle breeding company achieved a record local price for a cow of any breed, R6.4m for a pregnant Ankole heifer named Queen Arusha. The auction took place at the infamous Phala Phala farm. Let the guessing game begin for which couch that loot will be stashed inside.

A bad week for Mark Zuckerberg

It will be scant comfort for Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, that his new AI system seems more human than he is. Armed with tiny speakers and a microphone, it can book travel, answer e-mails, or speak to you. However, there is no truth to the rumour that the next version will be equipped with empathy and charisma, thereby becoming more appealing than Zuckerberg himself.
