This week we’re pouring a little island energy into our glasses. Assyrtiko – the white grape native to Santorini’s volcanic soils and now rooted in South Africa via Jordan’s first local mother block – brings a touch of Greek pedigree to Stellenbosch without losing its cool Grecian mystique.
Why we love it:
Made from the iconic Greek grape, it’s a crisp, dry white wine that’s more mineral than floral – think citrus peel, crunchy green stone fruit and a hint of flint. Bright, steely acidity and a savoury, saline finish make it as refreshing as a dip in the Aegean.
