A good week for de Villiers Engelbrecht
The tut-tutting was as deafening as the roar of its two Embraer aircraft, but we think Airlink’s Cape Town rugby flyby is as much a brilliant demonstration of skill and South African chutzpah as one helluva global marketing campaign for the airline. Prompting pride, outrage and a sudden global surge in aviation experts is no mean feat. Kudos to CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht and his team.
A bad week for Dada Morero
We couldn’t say it better than Our City News editor Sbu Ngalwa: who knows if Joburg mayor Dada Morero, who swore at an elderly resident last weekend after being called a criminal, is indeed one or not. But he presides over an administration that is notable more for its corruption and incompetence than any sort of service delivery. Morero, notably far happier at a self-congratulatory event, is the face of this pestilent authority. Man up, mayor!
